Junior Master Naturalist

Registration opens on May 15, 2026, for Elementary Junior Master Naturalists (JMN) and Middle/High School JMN! The program focuses on Junior Master Naturalists getting outside, making observations, and experiencing the topics discussed in class.

This year’s theme for all age levels is “Earth Wonders.”

The JMN registration fee may be paid online using PayPal or by mailing a check during registration. Registration is not complete until the fee is paid. Additional information is sent prior to the class beginning for 4H fees and to set up an iNaturalist account. Each participant receives a Junior Master Naturalist t-shirt prior to field trips.

  • What is Elementary JMN? Elementary Junior Master Naturalists is a hands-on, classroom activities focused program with some field trips.

  • Who can participate in Elementary JMN? The Elementary JMN program is for Grades 3–5.

  • How much does Elementary JMN cost? The program cost is $51 Total ($25 JMN Registration, $25 4H Membership, and $1 iNaturalist youth set-up)

  • How often does Elementary JMN meet? Elementary JMN meets for 1 and 1/2 hours twice a month on Thursday evenings starting at 6:00 pm. This includes monthly invites to the Good Water Master Naturalist seminar. NOTE: Some months will have one class and one field trip.

  • Where does Elementary JMN meet? Meetings are at the AgriLife Extension Building, 100 Wilco Way, Georgetown, TX.

  • What else should I know? Participants for Elementary JMN are encouraged to join the JMN iNaturalist project.

Elementary JMN Program Details

Middle/High School JMN Program Details

  • What is Middle/High School JMN? The Middle/High School JMN is an interactive, field trip based program.

  • Who can participate in Middle/High School JMN? The Middle/High School program is for students in Grades 6–12.

  • How much does Middle/High School JMN cost? The cost to participate in Middle/High School JMN is $71 Total ($50 JMN Registration, $25 4H Membership and $1 iNaturalist youth set up)

  • How often does Middle/High School JMN meet? Middle/High School JMN meet for field trips once per month on Saturdays.

  • Where does Middle/High School JMN meet? The meeting location will change each month based on the field trip location.

The Youth Development Committee plans education activities for area youth at different locations such as libraries and local parks. Activities range from hands-on tasks to nature walks.

Chapter members volunteer as part of the Youth Development Committee.
